Destiny 2 PvP Crucible is divided into two playlists called quick playand competitive, and each consists of a selection of rotating modes. All of the bouts are four-on-four contests. All level differences are removed, but everyone is free to bring any guns from their armoury into the fight. A quick play match will randomly throw you into a team deathmatch scenario, a control point capture mode or supremacy mode, 

 

Destiny 2 Fighting felt interesting, because players had to choose between three very different weapons, not just two primaries and a rocket. It helped bring back the feeling of power that original Destiny Guardians were accustomed to. But with that power came additional difficulty. New spaces like the Dreaming City were hard when players first arrived, with enemies that could kill Guardians easily. This was all thanks to the new grind for Power. Players had to grind to increase their power level and take on challenges.

 

There are quiet moments of exploration in Destiny 2 that feel revelatory, just as there are exhilarating battles and breathtaking vistas. I bet I spent an equal amount of time in the game character menu, swapping out a pair of boots to maximize my character’s power. It will take most players longer to get to that point than last time thanks to a lengthier and more involved story campaign, and the jouey is a much more enjoyable one because of greater variety in the missions. Bungie clearly leaed quite a bit from creating things like Destiny raids, and those lessons and good ideas make their way into much more of Destiny 2 than they did in its predecessor.

 

Destiny PvP is unconventional by PC shooter standards. Positioning and skillful reading of the radar are essential skills. The best teams sit on comms and carefully manage their supers and loadouts to maximise their killing efficiency (letting off a super generates power orbs that pals can collect to charge more supers). Since Destiny, Guardians have always been either gods or woefully under leveled. But the Dreaming City really showed off that feeling of increasing one power. Players moved from weaker than their enemies, to on par, to more powerful not in mere days, but over weeks. It was incremental, Destiny 2 Boost is crucial.

 

The first raid in Destiny 2, called Leviathan, didn’tdisappoint. The previous six-player events were the best designed content in the series, requiring players to coordinate and choreograph their actions in order to be successful. Leviathan does the same, and is filled with well designed battles that are tough mostly because they require every player to work together in individual roles to the benefit of the team. The intensity of the coordination required of players is really unlike anything else on the shooter market, and it makes all that work to reach raid-readiness worth it.
